Steve, company founder and licensed General Contractor, began learning the basics of building and carpentry at a young age. His father, a minister and also a builder, encouraged Steve to help him around the house with various projects. Wood working soon became a hobby, and at a young age Steve began hand crafting tables, benches, and other small wood furniture pieces. Carpentry became second nature. Building was in his blood. After studying construction management at college, Steve missed working hands on in the building trades, and began working at a local construction company. Subsequently, after working in the construction field for several years, Steve decided to venture out and establish his own framing company and thus founded Thoroughbred Builders in 2001. Steve married his wife, Brittany, in 2005. Brittany, also a minister’s daughter, grew up helping her parents with clerical church work. Paperwork, organization and keeping records were a natural strength for her and she delighted in taking over the paper side of the business and became the company bookkeeper.

Then, in 2007, Steve became a licensed General Contractor, and Brittany became a licensed Real Estate Broker, and the company then shifted into new construction an custom home renovation projects. In 2011, the couple welcomed their first child, a beautiful daughter, into the world, and shortly after in 2013, then welcomed a son. Their family lives on a small cattle farm where each member lends a hand caring for the farm animals. Steve continues to pursue his hobby and make hand crafted wood furniture during his spare time. Steve and Brittany enjoy the ability to work together and look forward to one day including their children in the family building business. Over the years, Thoroughbred Builders specialties have slowly evolved and the company now primarily focuses on custom decks, outdoor living spaces and home renovations. Our mission still remains to provide each home owner with the quality craftsmanship they deserve.
